Good Morning,
It feels good to be up and about. I have been off sick with the stomach flu :( I'm on the mend and itching to get outside. Just when I feel up to going out we are hit with SNOW!! First real snowfall of the winter... and it's still snowing. This has been a very mild winter for us. Ususally we have tons of snow by now. I guess it was to much to hope for to get through the month of February without snow.

With spring on my mind, I made this card.

Hi there,
Can you believe how fast January is going? We've had little snow and mild temperatures... hopefully it will carry on for the month of February.
In my family February starts the year off with birthdays. First one up is my brother's. This is the card I made for him. He is a toolman extraordinaire. He can make just about anything from small wooden Christmas ornaments to furniture.

I just need to find the perfect sentiment for inside.

We had the most awesome sunrise this morning. The sky was a range of pink, purple and salmon colours. Speaking of colours.... I have some fabric I got at a prop sale at work. It's a patchwork of designs and colours. I didn't know what to use it for until I found this project from Country Living.

Hi ho everyone!
It's been a frantic week but we got through it. And... we have snow. It is the first real snowfall of the winter. I thought for a while we were going to have a mild, snowless winter. But alas, Old Man Winter has unleashed the white fluffy stuff. So, today is a good day to stay indoors and hibernate. It gives me a chance to get stocked up on cards.

Today's card has texture. I ran the cardstock through the Cuttlebug with the Textiles folder. Since I was omitting any embellishments on the card (with thoughts of mailing it), I thought texture would give it some life.

I'm going to keep plugging away at cardmaking for a while, then attempt a chicken pot pie for dinner... wish me luck!

We have experienced bitter cold weather here today.. brrr. We've been so lucky so far, the month of December was unseasonably warmer.

The office tower in which I work is connected to a large mall. This Christmas the mall has decorated with huge deer. Here are a few pictures.

Aren't they gorgeous? We also have a tree which is covered in thousands of Swarovski crystals.

The crystals don't show up very well in the picture but I can assure you it is major bling!

Has anyone seen the weekend? I blinked and it flew by. I have been out and about all weekend so couldn't take any 'daylight' pictures of the cards I made, so please excuse the shot.

My friend and I went shopping in Buffalo today. We visited Joann's, a great fabric and craft store. Even though craft supplies were 40% off, I walked out with only ribbon... I was so proud of myself. Goodness knows I don't need any more craft supplies!!

It's early... I've been awake since 4:30 am. So many things going through my mind....so much to do before I go back to work on Tuesday. Today will be tidying up and maybe making a card or two. But tomorrow.... no housework, the day will be dedicated to shopping!

The tree image is inset with the presents mounted on dimensionals. Looking back I should have coloured the presents in a brighter colour. Live and learn.

Busy,busy day. First, Christmas bazzars at a few churches, then back to my friends for coffee and some treats we bought at the bbake table, then some shopping, then home..... for a few hours then back out shopping for some paint and supplies. My plan next week is to get the basement painted. Dinner is over, dishes are done and I am exhausted. Good thing I already had this card made ready to post.

(you'll have to excuse the lighting. I am a bit challenged when it comes to adjusting my camera to take shots in different lighting.)

It's been too long since my last post.... I have intentions of posting often but work has been so busy that I collapse in my chair after dinner with no energy to do anything. Today was no different except........... I saw Oscar de la Renta at work today. What a gorgeous man, so elegant and gracious. When he smiled his whole face lit up. I can't believe he is 79 years old! Oscar (yes, we are on a first name basis) was launching his new fragrance and signing autographs. Heavy sigh... aahhhh. Anyway, enough of my gushing.

I love the contrast between white and navy. Navy serves for a perfect backdrop to the white snowflakes. Of course I had to add a little bling.

The snowflake dies are from Papertrey as is the sentiment. I love Papertrey products but living in Canada, the duty and shipping I have to pay on the order is a killer. It won't stop me from shopping though.... it's an addiction!

Autumn Still Life

Hello,
It's such a beautiful day! Too nice to stay indoors.

I coloured some autumn images throughout the week but didn't have time to make a card until today.

(I always forget to keep track of the Copics I use)

I also made these today.... Apple Crostatas. If you need a quick dessert, these are so simple. Ready made pie crust for the bottom and fill with your favourite fruit mixture. I added cinnamon, brown sugar and walnuts to the apples. Dot with little cubes of butter and fold the crust over the top. I have made this with peaches too. Yum!

I added a few raspberries from the garden too.

Sunday... another peaceful day in the neighbourhood. Most have gone away for the long weekend. My plan was to play in the garden this weekend. Yesterday was too hot and today it's rainy. Oh well, I guess I'll have to play in the craft room... poor me ;)

I absolutely love this image. It was so much fun to colour with my copics. It's the first time I've used Stampin' Up's Orchid Oplulence card stock. While my favourite colours are pink and purple, I rarely use them in cardmaking... weird eh? The bow on the card was giving me a hard time... I'm not good with bows. I'll get one out of a 100 right.

Hello,
September already. The nights get cooler, kids go back to school and darkness descends earlier. But I love the onset of fall. This is my favourite time of year. Although, with the temps upwards of 40 degrees with the humidity factor tomorrow, you'd never know fall was approaching. It's going to be a stinker!
I remember a friend telling me that no matter the weather, it's always time for golf. We even have a heated driving range that's open in the winter! Segway into my card...

The image is from Wax Fruit Company. I love the embossing on this card... it's called seeing spots but I think it looks like a bunch of golf balls.

Good Morning,
The humidity has broken... finally. Air conditioning is great but I long to have the windows open and have the breeze blow in. Feels wonderful!

New stack... it's called Portobello Road from My Minds Eye. Gorgeous paper. I printed the sentiment on the computer and adhered it on some burlap.... make the card real manly :)

The colours in the photo are a little off. The image of the horse has a touch of blue in it. Oh how I long for a Nikon.

Hello,
A friend asked me to make a 75th birthday card for her brother-in-law. He is an avid golfer so Wax Fruit Company's Dad's Reward digi stamp was perfect. The card measures 5.5 by 8.5 inches.... ginormous... a bit bigger than I normally make.

I have to give props to my friend's brother who designed the initials.

Baby Animals

Good Monday Morning,
On the weekend I went to a few garage sales with my shopping buddy. At one particular garage sale, there were tons of stamps. All brand new... never been used before. Talk about being in heaven. But, I did control myself and only bought 2 sets at $3 each. What a bargain!!
The set I used for these cards were baby animals. Perfect for baby or children's cards.

My plan was to play in the garden today but due to the heaven's opening up I was banished to my craft room... poor me! This card is another digi image from Wax Fruit Company.

I'm off to bake a cake. I know as soon as I turn my Kitchen Aid on, my cat will come running. He knows the sound and thinks he'll be getting whipped cream. I'll have to listen to his desperate cries for half an hour... well, not this time mister!

Good Morning,
It's back to work today :( after a 2 week vacation. So, postings may not be as often.
While reading my many card making magazines, I came across the patterns for these cards. I thought they were soooo cute, perfect for kiddie cards.

I found the patterns in the Spring 2009 Paper Creations magazine.

As for the paper, I found it in my stash.... tons of paper I have forgotten about. I really should check the stash out from time to time and listen to my friend who says "YOU DON'T NEED ANY MORE PAPER".

Birthday Card

Good Morning,
August. Already! Is it just me or is time flying by?

I've been thinking alot about my mom lately. This month will be 2 years since her passing. It's a bit easier to remember the happy, funny, tender times, but the day she passed away is still fresh in my memory. Her favourite colour was green. I guess I had that in mind when I made this card.

My mom also loved Black eyed Susans, so I planted some in the garden this year.

Hi,Just back from a day of shopping. Got some great deals today and had a nice lunch with my shopping buddy.
Here is the other thank you card I mentioned in my post yesterday. I printed this image on card stock first then overlayed the image with it printed on tracing paper.

The Cuttlebug folder used for the background is called Seeing Spots.

It's raining.... and thank you so much

Hello,
It's finally raining! My garden and lawn are jumping for joy, even the brown spots are perking up.
On Tuesday I had the most wonderful day. Some friends came over for lunch...a long wait for a get together. We celebrated our friendship with some bubbles (which went straight to my head) and we talked the whole afternoon. One friend arrived with the bubbles and some gorgeous pink roses.

I won't post her thank you card until I give it to her because she checks my blog every day.

My other friend gave me some lavender hand soap and hand cream along with a little manicure set in a case shaped like a flip flop. I adore flip flops... live in them.

Here is her card.

The DP I bought in Buffalo, it's a stack from DCWV called Garden Party. The flourish and thank you were printed off on the computer. No bling since it's going in the mail.( the paper is much more vibrant than the picture, it's a dull day for taking pictures)

We finally got some rain... the garden needed it badly. It's starting to clear up and may be a beautiful day.... hopefully without too much humidity.

The card today was made with Papertrey's Vintage Picnic. I love the variety of picnic baskets and "stuffings".

When I am ready to send it, I'll add a sentiment.

Child's Birthday

Feelin' hot hot hot! Just sitting on the deck this morning having coffee I was melting.
Back to the comfort of air conditioning.

This card started out with a totally different idea. I had in mind to use some Melissa Frances paper and the Vintage Picnic stamps from Papertrey. As you can see the MF paper was used but the picnic stamp?.... not so much.

It's another hot, humid day today. I've lost one shrub in the garden despite all the watering. My poor butterfly bush has bit the dust.

I'm having doubts about this card.... I was colouring it at 11:30 pm last night. I was so tired my eyes were popping out. Note to self.... don't colour when you're tired or this is what you get.

Hello,
I just finished planting some shrubs and a tree in my backyard. The tree isn't very big but man, that sucker is heavy.Not to mention pulling up the grass to make a bed for the plants..... the grass has a network of roots a mile long. I am exhausted.
I am glad I made this card yesterday to post today. It's another digi image from Wax Fruit Company.

I think I'll chill out for the rest of the day and enjoy my garden.

Vintage Bingo Birthday

Hello from the land of humidity!

It's stinkin' hot!! Even at 7:oo this morning it was humid. I put the sprinkler on to water the half brown grass and have been inside ever since. It's a good day to stay in my air-conditioned craft room to make some cards.

I was surfing for some images today when I came across this vintage bingo card at Wild @ Heart. The bingo embossing folder is from Tim Holtz. While I love the seam binding ribbon I have a heck of a time making a bow out of it.

I used a bit of velum for the sentiment, added a button to match the dress in the image and some beading hanging from the button.

Bloomin' Flowers

Sunday...... a day of rest, especially after a trip to Buffalo yesterday. The day started off like that.... but then I started thinking. That means projects. There was one patch left in the backyard that I hadn't done anything with, so my son and I moved some plants around the yard. NOW we're resting. Whew!

This week is my MIL's birthday. Her favourite colour is green and she loves flowers. Here's is the card I made for her.....
